My Philosophy

Exploring how to live in tune with each other, nature, and the Earth.

Why Share This?

I’ve learned that living a philosophy is different from having one. This page captures the principles I return to when I stumble, learn, and try again to live what I write about in The Pond and the Pulse.

How I See the World

  • Reality is relational: Everything arises in connection with everything else. People, communities, ecosystems, even ideas—they all emerge through relationship.

  • Sacred without supernatural: The sacred is real, but it doesn’t require supernatural explanations. Awe, reverence, and purpose emerge from life itself, in all its complexity and mystery.

  • A forward spiral, not a return: Life moves in a forward spiral—we don’t go back to some ideal past. We learn from experience and reflection as we create new possibilities together.

Principles I Try to Live By

  1. Presence over perfection: Eldership and wisdom are about showing up, not having all the answers.

  2. Dialogue over debate: I try to shift from winning arguments to co‑creating understanding.

  3. Praxis: Real change comes from action and reflection, not from vision or theory alone.

  4. Composting old patterns: Modern habits—like binary thinking or debate as combat—can be composted into something more life‑giving.

  5. Relational integrity: Live in ways that honour connections—to people, ecosystems, and future generations.

Why It Matters

We are living in urgent times. Human and ecological systems are under pressure, and old ways of thinking often divide rather than connect us. Living one’s philosophy is not about fixed beliefs but about daily practice: being willing to unlearn, relearn, and act with humility.

An Invitation

This is my evolving philosophy—what guides me as I write, act, and learn. What guides you?

I’d love to hear how you live your own philosophy.
